Roster Channel Settings

Control who can post in Daily Roster chat channels, which managers are added, and how roster posts reach drivers.

The Daily Roster conversation under Chat → Recurring is not one channel. It is a set of channels for each day: an all-rostered channel and, when the roster is split by wave, one channel per wave. Roster channel settings control who can post in those channels and which managers are added to them. The settings live on the roster channel config, so one save applies to today's channels, every wave, and every future day.

Opening the settings

Open Chat. In the sidebar under Recurring, click Daily Roster (or the name of your roster channel). Click the info button in the conversation header. The info pane opens with About and Members tabs.

Only chat admins can edit these settings. Other managers see a read-only summary.

About tab

On the live period (today), chat admins see a Roster channel settings form with three rows.

Admins chooses which managers are added:

  • All admins — new admins join automatically — all current and future admins join every roster channel.

  • Only selected admins — only the hand-picked list joins. The first time you save this, a dialog titled Hand-pick this company's admins? tells you how many admins will be selected; press Select & save and the list starts with every admin you have today. New hires no longer join automatically; add them in the Members tab.

Drivers is fixed. It reads Rostered drivers for the day. Driver membership comes from the daily roster, so there is nothing to pick here.

Posting chooses who can send:

  • Everyone can post — drivers and managers can message in the roster channels.

  • Only admins can post — managers can post; drivers see a read-only conversation in the driver app.

Press Save settings. The save applies to the all-rostered channel and every wave channel for today, and future roster channels are built from the same config.

When you open a past day, the About tab shows the same values as a read-only summary instead of the form. The summary uses shorter wording for the admin audience: Every admin (new admins join automatically) or Selected admins. Edits are only available on the live period because the config governs future days.

Members tab

On the live period, chat admins can manage the admin list from the Members tab.

Add admins opens a picker, then a dialog asks you to confirm with Add admins. Adding someone pins the config to hand-picked admins; newly hired admins no longer join automatically. Add them here when you want them in roster channels.

Each admin row has a remove button, and a dialog asks you to confirm with Remove admin. Removing one takes them out of today's roster channels and keeps them out of future days. You cannot remove the last remaining admin — the channels must keep at least one.

Drivers are listed for visibility only. The note says Drivers come from the daily roster and cannot be removed here. The roster changes their membership automatically.

What drivers see

When posting is Only admins can post, a driver who opens the roster conversation from the driver app sees a strip reading Only admins can post in this channel. in place of the composer. Flip the setting back to Everyone can post, and the composer returns. When posting is Everyone can post, drivers can send messages in the same roster channels as managers.

How roster channel posts reach drivers

Roster channel posts are delivered in the app only. There is no text-message copy, so a driver who has not opened the driver app does not see roster channel posts until they sign in, and a driver who is not on that day's roster is not a member of that day's channel. To reach a driver by text, send a Viki announcement with SMS delivery or message them in their own conversation under Viki Conversations.
