Creating Incentives

How to build a threshold, streak, leaderboard, or squad incentive — metrics, targets, rewards, week ranges, and who is enrolled.

An incentive is a reward program you run for your drivers: you pick the numbers that matter, set a target, attach a reward, and choose who is in the running. The app scores it against real data, so you aren't hand-tallying anything at week's end.

Open Performance → Incentives and press Create Incentive. The page that opens — "Improve your scorecards by offering incentives to drivers. Choose an incentive type to get started" — shows one card per type.

The four incentive types

  • Threshold pays out when one or more requirements are met. This is the workhorse: hit the number, get the reward.

  • Streak pays out when conditions are met for multiple weeks in a row — consistency rather than one strong week.

  • Leaderboard pays out when a driver is among the top drivers for a given metric, with optional tie breakers.

  • Squad pays out when all drivers in an assigned squad meet the requirements — the whole squad wins together or nobody does.

What every incentive asks for

Whatever type you choose, the form is built from the same pieces.

Name has to be unique; reuse one and you'll see "Name is already used."

Start Week and End Week set the window — whole weeks only, never mid-week dates, opening on the current week. Next to the pickers is a Recurring checkbox: turn it on and the app keeps generating the same program for the following periods, appending the week range to the name ("Perfect Week - Weeks 32 - 33"). Build a recurring program over a window that has already passed and an alert lists which periods will be generated for you.

Requirements are the conditions, added a row at a time with Add requirement. Each row is a metric, an operator, and a value: pick the metric from a searchable list grouped by Team, Individual, "Individual, Trailing Six Weeks," and "Individual, Daily," choose an operator ("is greater than,""is less than,""is equal to," and the two "or equal to" variants), then type the target. All requirements must be met, and you can't use the same metric twice. The toggle underneath, "Specify which metrics are required," adds a Required checkbox to each row; leave it off and a driver missing data for a metric isn't penalized for it.

Rewards work the same way, one row per Add reward, and every incentive needs at least one. The types are Dollar Bonus, Dollar Bonus Per Package, Guaranteed Hours, and Custom, where you type whatever you're offering in plain English ("Pizza party" is the placeholder). Guaranteed Hours has an Override checkbox that reveals Shifts per Week and Hours per Day if you want to cap the guarantee; set both or neither.

Drivers is a table of your active drivers — First Name, Last Name, Transporter ID — with a checkbox per row: "These are the drivers currently in the running for this incentive." You need at least one, and only active drivers can be picked. Beside it, Automatically Add New Drivers to This Incentive enrolls everyone and keeps enrolling new hires as they're created.

What each type adds

Streak adds Required Number of Weeks: "the number of weeks that conditions will have to be met before the incentive is awarded. All streaks are contiguous." The streak has to fit inside your week range.

Leaderboard adds Primary Metric — "This incentive will pay out if [metric] is in the top [N] drivers" — plus optional Tie Breakers, applied in order when drivers post the same value. Everyone who ties across all of them is awarded, regardless of the number you set. Requirements are optional here and act as an eligibility gate.

Squad replaces the driver table with squad building. Pick a CadenceWeekly (the usual week pickers) or Daily (a single Day field) — then drag drivers from the searchable list on the left into numbered squads on the right. "Select the number of squads" sets how many; Clear Groups starts over. Every squad needs at least one driver, and squads larger than nine get a warning, because a group chat can't be created for them.

Saving and going live

The two buttons at the bottom are Create And Activate Incentive and Create Incentive. Both save the program; the first also switches it on. An inactive program is never scored or processed, so use plain Create Incentive to stage something for later, then flip the toggle on its card when you're ready.

What drivers see

Drivers find their programs on the Incentives tab of their scorecard view, headed "Here's how the incentives work for week 32:". Each program is a card with its name and requirements written as plain sentences — "Achieve the following:" for threshold and squad, "Achieve the following for 3 weeks:" for a streak, "Be in the top 5 drivers for:" for a leaderboard. Squad members see who they're paired with by name. Reward amounts sit on the My scorecard tab under "This week, you were eligible for:", and once a program completes each card says whether they achieved it.

Nobody is notified automatically. On the incentive's details page, Text Your Drivers About This Incentive texts every enrolled driver a link to their scorecard, and squad incentives also offer Create Group Chats, which opens one chat per squad. Results and payments are covered in their own article.
