Zap, the driver app drivers use on the road, signs drivers out on its own at a few set points in the day. Each workday then starts with a fresh sign-in. If a driver says they were "kicked out" overnight or when they got back to the station, that's usually one of these and not a problem with their phone.
The overnight sign-out
Every night VoiceERP signs out everyone using Zap, at every company, at the same moment. During daylight saving time, that's:
4:00 AM Eastern
3:00 AM Central
2:00 AM Mountain
1:00 AM Pacific
In winter it's an hour earlier in each time zone, for example 3:00 AM Eastern or 12:00 AM Pacific.
The phone shows a notification titled Logged out: "You have been logged out from VoiceERP." The next time the driver opens Zap, they sign in again with their phone number and code. This sign-out is the same for every company and can't be turned off.
The early-morning sign-out on the phone
Zap also signs itself out early each morning using the phone's own clock. Unless your company has asked for a different time, that's 3:45 AM. The phone decides exactly when to run it, so it can happen a little later than the set time, especially on iPhone.
VoiceERP support can change this time or turn this sign-out off for your company.
The end-of-day sign-out at the station
If your company has a station location set, Zap can sign a driver out automatically when they come back at the end of their route. Once the driver's phone enters the station area after your company's end-of-day start time, Zap signs them out 30 minutes later. If they leave the station area during those 30 minutes, the sign-out is cancelled.
It won't happen before 11:00 AM, and it won't happen to a driver who signed in less than five minutes earlier. The driver's phone needs to allow location access in the background. The Station Geofence article covers how the station area is set up.
When a driver logs out themselves
Drivers can sign out from their profile in Zap by tapping Logout. If your company has a station location set, they have to be inside the station area to do this. Outside it they see Can't log out: "You're currently not within your station's area, so you can't log out."
Signing a driver out yourself
Go to Operations → Online Drivers:
Use Force Logout from the three-dot menu on a driver's row to sign out one driver.
Use Log Out All Drivers to sign out everyone currently online.
Either way, the driver has to sign in again before they can use Zap.
Offline isn't the same as signed out
A driver can show Offline without being signed out. It just means their phone hasn't checked in recently, for example because the app is closed or they've lost signal. A signed-out driver has to go through sign-in again. An offline driver usually comes back online when they reopen the app or get signal back.
